Message from William Fash at Harvard:
It is my sad duty to let you know that dear old Gordon passed away
yesterday, after suffering massive heart failure. The doctors are unsure
what went wrong, because he had been recovering slowly but surely. It
is all a bit of a mystern at this point.
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church in Cambridge on
Wednesday May 8, at 10 a.m. Cards can be sent to his daughters
Alexandra and Winston at Gordon's home, 25 Gray Gardens East,
Cambridge, MA 02138.
We can all take comfort in the fact that Gordon has such a long, happy,
and productive life, and that at least now he will no longer have to
pine away for Katharine, whom he missed so much.
Best wishes,
Bill Fash
[Note: Gordon Randolph Willey was born in 1913 in Chariton, Iowa
and was famous for working in three different regions: the SE Gulf
Coast, South American and Central America (Maya) as well as
archaeological theory. RLS]
