Levin's pianism is among the best in the world at this moment, he is
able to improvise in the classical style with fluency and verve, he
has a penetrating intellect and the musical sense to marry research and
musicality. For example, in the Beethoven 4th concerto he arpegiates
the opening chords which was a practice of that time which Beethoven
specifically approved of. The result makes the concerto leap into action,
rather than present a forceful wall.
