The following was announced 2 days ago in the NY Times, just following your
announcement to the group...
March 21, 2001
Pianist Serkin Withdraws From Concerts
The pianist Peter Serkin, who was to appear with Oliver Knussen and
the London Sinfonietta as part of the Perspectives series of concerts
focusing on Mr. Serkin on Monday, next Wednesday and on March 30
and 31, has had to withdraw from the programs after emergency eye
surgery for a detached retina. As a result, "Red Garuda" by Peter
Lieberson, which was to have been given its New York premiere by Mr.
Serkin on Monday, has been canceled. Mr. Lieberson's "Drala" will
be performed in its place. The remainder of the program is the same.
Changes to the other three programs are to be announced.
