David Runnion writes of concerts in Spain:
>Concerts here start at 8 at the very earliest, more often 9 or 9:30, and
>many summer concerts start after the heat of the day is gone at
>10:30 at night.
In the U.S., I think that a 10:30 concert would find many potential concert
goers asleep in dream land (in their beds or in their concert seats).
Even 9 PM sounds pretty late unless the individual gets out of work quite
late and also eats at a posh/time-consuming restaurant. My most agreeable
concert time would be based on the following considerations:
Leave work - 4 PM. Arrive at home - 4:15. Leave home - 5 PM.
Arrive at greasy Drive-thru window/fast food - 5:15 PM.
Arrive at parking lot for concert - 5:40 - any food not yet eaten is carried
into concert hall for eventual consumption and noise making.
Sit down in concert seat - 6 PM. Let the music begin!
Although the above is just my brand of humor, I really would prefer to do
the concert soon after work ends, then eat a fine meal later with my wife
or other selected adult female at an intimate restaurant. That would leave
time to later fulfill the mandates of a great evening and wake up early the
next morning ready for the new day's pressures.
