I'm a french student in musicology. I'm making a study about the poems
of Theophile Gautier set to music in the french melodie. This poet of
the XIXth century is one of the most important "songwriter" of the french
melodie. The most famous composers of this vocal genre use his poems:
Faure, Chausson, Duparc, Bizet, Offenbach, and overall Berlioz, with his
famous song cycle Les nuits d'ete.
If you're interested in french melodie, or if you have encountered a vocal
score composed on a poem of Gautier, please tell me. I'm specially looking
for scores from "unknowned" french composers, such as Francois Bazin,
Pauline Viardot, Allyre Bureau...
