Oh really? I hardly think so. John Corligiano's first symphony,
Penderecki's St. Luke Passion and Devils of Loudon, Stockhausen's
Stimmung, Berio's Sinfonia are all masterpieces on the level of these
earlier composers in that they masterfully craft the musical language of
their day into levels of expression that are unattainable by the ordinary
human. Perhaps they do not yet have the benefit of age that Brahms has,
but one would be hard pressed to deny the genius of these creators!
