Frank:

I would NOT use 3 shallow supers, it would not be enough space, I use 3
medium supers for brood and it works just fine, it does not seem to make any
difference to the queen. I have 32 hives this way.
If you measure 2 deep supers, it's about the same as 3 medium supers.
