Here at the Arnold Arboretum we are blessed with a multitude of plant
material. Today it's 68 and the silver maples, daphne willows, and
snowdrops were all being visited by our bees; bright orange pollen from the
snowdrops and light yellow pollen from the maples and willows were coming
in fast and furious. Witch hazels were blooming last week and some still
are. Last week was a little too chilly for the bees to find them though.
Red maples are probably next; Cornus officinalis and Cornus mas (the
cornelian cherry dogwoods) are swelling. Spring is here!
