Feed is 1 pound of plain sugar dissolved in 1 pint of water.
The best time to start feeding is about 6-8 weeks before dandelion blooms.
You can NOT put the feed OUTSIDE of the hive, because other bees will start
robbing.
Fill a can or jar with the sugar syrup, punch 4-5 very small holes (1/32 inch
or 1 millimeter) in the top, turn the can or jar upside down over the hole in
the inner cover or crown board, put an empty hive body over he can or jar,
put the hive top or roof on.
If the bees do not have any stored pollen, mix some pollen with sugar and put
1-2
ounces of it on the frame top bars of the bottom hive body.
