POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

        The Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory, plans to
develop a computerized catalog database for the state's most significant
archaeological collections.  This two-year project will update collection
catalogs, photo-document selected materials, enter these data into a
computer database, and prepare a detailed Finding Aid.  Collections
represent all time periods and geographical areas in Maryland, from
Paleo-Indian to the late 19th/early20th century.

        The Mac Lab invites applications for three available positions:

LEAD PROJECT CURATOR will be responsible for undertaking and supervising the
cataloging, photographing, and data-entry of materials from 31 of the MAC
Lab's most important collections, and preparing a published Finding Aid.
Ph.D. in anthropology, history, American Studies, or related field required,
or applicant may substitute MA and four years field and laboratory
experience.  Position starts on or about August 1 and lasts approximately 20
months, $19.44/hour.

PROJECT CURATOR will be responsible for the cataloging, photographing, and
data-entry of materials. Responsibilities also include assistance with the
preparation of the Finding Aid. MA in anthropology, history, American
Studies, or related field required, or applicant may substitute BA and four
years field and laboratory experience.  Position starts on or about
September 1 and lasts approximately 22 months, $15.08/hour.

ASSISTANT PROJECT CURATOR will be responsible for the cataloging and
data-entry of materials. MA in anthropology, history, American Studies, or
related field required, or applicant may substitute BA and two years field
and laboratory experience.  Position starts on or about October 1 and lasts
approximately 15.5 months, $13.25/hour.

All positions are full-time state contractual positions with no benefits.
