Dear Folks,

I often get vitae and resumes through the post, some are very well prepared
and offer good promise. It takes time to look through these resumes and to
write to the person. In the end I adopted the policy to trash instantly any
that began with, "To whom it may concern" or ones that began with "Dear
Sir" without my name at the top. I concluded that, in such cases, the
person had not bothered to find out anything about me or what I do in
particular. The person had just produced so many copies of the resume and
sent them off to all the names in the telephone book under
"Archaeologists". Lucky dip approach. Robert.
