Rob Mann:
I caught your post on the Cicott trade post on the Wabash River in Indiana. I
am curious if your Cicott is the same Cicott who also lived at times on the
River Raisin (now Monroe, Michigan)? The one on the River Raisin is Jean
Baptiste Cicot or Cicott (fl. 1780-1830) who was involved in providing
intelligence to Anthony Wayne on British forces around Detroit, and
instrumental in bringing many of the Indian leaders to Fort Greenville (Ohio)
for treaty negotiations in August 1795. He moved around a lot being a fur
trader to places like Detroit, River Raisin, Sandusky, Miamis of the Lakes
(Maumee), and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Cordially,
Pat Tucker
Oregon, Ohio
