Greetings Histarchers!

Please circulate this reminder as widely as possible. There are
several excellent resources for students and fresh professionals at
the SHA meeting in Long Beach. Look for these in your program:

1. "How To Get the Job You Want: A Resume Writing and Interview
Workshop."
Bring your CV and Resume to the meeting! Catharine Dann set up this
free workshop so that students can sit down one-on-one with
professionals and whip their paperwork into ship-shape form.
Mentoring participants include Sara Mascia, Larry Mckee, Vergil Noble,
Adrian Praetzellis, Lou Ann DeCunzo, and more excellent
archaeologists! Attend this session, even if you didn't bring your CV
with you! You can ask questions about interviewing, cover letters,
job searches, etc!

2. "The Past Presidents' Student Reception" Before the banquet, the
SHA past presidents will host a private meeting for student attendees.
Food, beverage, and conversation- very valuable for networking!

3. The Student Subcommittee Meeting. This committee is a subset of
the Academic and Professional Training Committee of the SHA. Attend
our morning meeting, meet other student professionals, and become
involved with your society. Contribute ideas for the newsletter
column, the 2001 conference, and help us get our rideshare/roomshare
program more publicity. The committee needs more volunteers from the
underwater community! Want more information? Leave me a message at
the conference hotel (Timothy Scarlett, subcommittee chair, I'm
staying on the Queen Mary).

While I feel that my own paper session is also very valuable, I will
spare everyone the shameless plug!

Happy holiday season and safe travels to all.
Regards,
Tim
