Dear Hist-archers,

Lucia National Trust is
pleased to announce a new accredited historical landscape archaeology field
school in
the West
Indies.

Students, volunteers and experienced archaeologists are invited to submit
applications to participate in _The Colonial Landscape of St Lucia, West
Indies_, a historical landscape archaeology field school, 27 December
2000-23 January 2001. The closing date for receipt of FULL applications in
30 November 2000, but there is a very limited number of places on the

in St Lucia, West Indies, and will constitute virtually the first formal
archaeological project ever to be carried out on St Lucia. Students and

of Bristol. Students may gain 4 credits (North America) or 40 points (UK).
The fees for the 4 weeks are US$1550, or the reduced rate of UK£700 for UK
residents.
Fees will be payable to University of Bristol, which is a registered
charity, and are inclusive of everything (good accommodation on site, food,
tuition,
transport, etc.)
except airfare. A *very limited number* of further reduced-rate places for
suitably
qualified experienced archaeologists are also available. Applications for
these posts should be submitted urgently. The project is
