Ken--General Electric Corp. used to and probably still does have corp.
museums and various corp.-generated publications on their products which
include all phases of power plants and electricity dating back a long way.
You might try checked their web pages and contacting them. Their lighting
museum was in Cleveland, Ohio and they built generators and turbines in
Schenectady, NY. Other locations built distribution equipment. (I am
unfortunately familiar with both Cleveland and Schenectady operations from
my pre-archaeologist life, but that was a long time ago!)
