Hello Michael,
I don't have his contact at hand but Smoke Pfieffer has an extensive
bibliography online that would help you with your marble sources. I will
offer the best of the sources and easiest to obtain. Look for Randall, Mark
& Webb, Dennis GREENBERG'S GUIDE TO MARBLES. It's a collector's book so you
may find it at a local antique dealer's library. Then for the most concise
(chronologies here) information look for anything by Carskadden, Jeff in
Zanesville, Ohio. His most recent book COLONIAL PERIOD AND EARLY 19th
CENTURY CHILDREN'S TOY MARBLES: History and Identifications for the
Archaeologist and Collector, 1998 is a valuable source.
The ISBN: 0-9626931-8-9 and it's published by The Muskingham Valley
Archaeological Survey, 24 S. 6th St., Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Good luck and
have fun with your research. Contact me offlist if you want a few more
ideas. I'm racing around betwen exhibit and CAP grant preparations, but will
try to get back to you.
Sincerely,
Diane B. Rice, Curator
