Wheelers job reference for Leslie Alcock when he applied for a post in
Cardiff- in full c.1950
"Not a bad chap despite the Cheshire accent"
Good enough to get prof. alcock the job but very revealing about the
British class system.
The Hawkes biography is a good read but glosses over Wheeeler's sex life
which had some importance so I am led to believe in British
archaeological politics.
