ARCHAEOLOGICAL LAB TECHNICIAN
Colonial Williamsburg’s Department of Archaeological Research has an
immediate opening for a six-month laboratory technician position.
Responsibilities to include, checking recording forms, maintaining records,
processing artifacts, cataloging of artifacts, and conducting analysis.
Minimum requirements include familiarity with basics of archaeological
field and laboratory work, demonstrated understanding of basic
archaeological stratigraphy, cataloging level knowledge of 17th-, 18th-,
and 19th-century artifacts, excellent oral and written communication skills
and analytical ability, ability to interact with the public, and attention
to detail. All of the above is generally gained through completion of a
college-level undergraduate and/or graduate archaeological field school
course and/or at least 3 months experience in field or laboratory
archaeology.
