David Harbin inquires:

Well, Wagner, of course - the Ride of the Valkyries.
If you could get your hands on any of David del Tredici's Alice series
and find the parts where the soprano sings at the top of her lungs into a
megaphone this might do the trick. Sitting in a concert hall where these
have been played I have seen people racing for the exits with their ears
covered.
Both Shostakovich and Prokofiev can crank up the volume pretty well;
neither composer's 5th symphony finale is quiet.
And Mahler, of course - the Symphony of a Thousand (No. 8) can generate
quite a lot of volume.
