Linda Rogers states:
>I really feel that those who think that they are understanding classical
>music through listening to the "best" canned dead meat of a CD are deluding
>themselves if they cannot pick up an instrument and play a scale.
I think of some of my favorite cds - Hewitt playing WTC 2, and Messiaen,
Tureck and Gould in Goldberg Variations, Tinter in Bruckner Symphonies,
Vanska conducting Sibelius, Shirai singing Schubert and Wolf - Imogen
Cooper playing Schubert Piano Sonatas _ and dead meat is about the last
descriptive phrase I would use.
If you think of cds as dead meat, then you should stick to live
performances or playing scales.
