Berkshire has just listed at $5.99 one of my favorite recordings of all
time: Tchaikovsky's Manfred, with Evgeny Svetlanov and the USSR Symphony
Orchestra (originally Melodiya, now RCA/BMG). It was recorded back in the
60s, and if I'm not mistaken got a Penguin Rosette at the time. A great,
great performance. I actually bought my original copy in Moscow--and
incredibly enough, that Russian pressing was the single most durable LP
I have ever owned.
