Joel Lazar disagrees with a apanning of one of Scelsi's pieces:
>Mr Gereben favors us with quasi-journalistic fare of allegedly
>authoritative nature from time to time, in the course of which an
>assortment of questionable observations and somewhat hazy conclusions
>has given me some serious doubts about his competence.
Whatever Janos Gereben's other strengths or weaknesses may be, he is
a highly competent and professional journalist with musical training in
his backgroud--enough of it to entitle him to serious hearing and polite
treatment. His contributions to this list have been valuable and enduring.
We can't all be conductors who have a soft spot for Scelsi.
