Bob Draper responds to Stephen Heersink:
>>Haydn doesn't have the indelible characteristic of a Mozart or
>>Beethoven which make it immediately known, but performed well,
>>Haydn's symphonies have brought me as much joy listening to a Master at
>>his craft.
>
>This is typical of the patronising attitude to Haydn that I am
>avowed to battle against.
I always enjoy it when Bob dons his "Avenger" hat. I really have no idea
why Stephen would ascribe "indelible" characteristics to Mozart and
Beethoven, but not Haydn. He might answer that one.
As far as I'm concerned, no matter what pecking order is placed on the
three mentioned composers, each one wrote many works which easily made
their mark on me immediately.
