I too find myself unwilling to reduce composers to a philosophical essence
which appeals to one particular side of me. This is not just because they
were/are all complex individuals who didn't only have one thing to say, but
because I am too.  Diverse as my musical tastes are, I'm not able to split
myself into bits which different composers appeal to.
