Have anybody heard the Hungarian Festival Orchestra recently? It is an old
orchestra that for long has been at best mediocre, but their leader since
the early 1990ies(?) Janos Fischer, has proved an amazing capability to
train an orchestra, and this orchestra is now very sharp. I heard their
Beethoven 7 & 8 recently and it knocked my socks off. I wished they had
got the contract to do the Beethoven symphonies on Naxos instead, and their
cycle would have been as well pleasant to listen to, and a good-seller.

Anyone familiar with the Fischer phenomenon? Should be worth checking out....
