I have some records that I inherited from my grandfather that have just
a hand holding a baton... Some are on the Decca label... black print
on an all blue label. Others are from the NBC Radio Symphony Orchestra...
blue print on white label. On some the records are black, thick and rigid.
The others are of red vinyl or plastic. These include the Donkey Serenade
and a bunch of other short pieces. The black ones have full (usually)
movements of Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert symphonies and concertos. I was
told there were some that were operatic excerpts, but he threw those away.
All were 78's. All were in albums with from four to 10 records per album.
There is almost no detail on the label such as where, dates, etc.
I was told they came by mail, but I did not realize they might be from
some sort of club. I don't know when they were obtained, but most people
thought they came after 1941.
