And the opening of Handel's ZADOK THE PRIEST and any piece by Philip Glass!
Actually, I have long collected Philip Glass and attended a performance of
his opera AKHNATEN when it first came to London. Also EINSTEIN ON THE
BEACH is another favourite opera of mine. I feel he is now back on form
with DRACULA string quartet soundtrack. Is so-called Minimalism out of
fashion now or, paradoxically, too much *in* fashion? Can it be talked of
seriously? Reich, Adams, Riley... I feel another great example is
NIGHT-RIDE AND SUNRISE (and to some extent EN SAGA) by Sibelius;
Shostakovitch's moto perpetuo in his 8th. And Simon Bainbridge's Moto
Perpetuo for oboe (?) and orchestra.
