BEN,
I have done some small test excavations on a few tannery sites in Melbourne
Australia. They involved sampling the site through metres of fill, and a
watching brief, but they did show up some data on construction techniques
and technology.
Let me know if this is useful.
I'd be interested in any info you may come up with - do you intend to
produce a report yourself?
