I would appreciate comments on the identification (function) of the
following ceramic. This includes a lead glaze (green) redware
ceramic our firm recovered from an urban site in Pittsburgh, PA
(see attached jpeg files - plan and profile views). It was collected
from a privy/well probably dating to circa 1800-1830.

The ceramic is glazed on the interior and exterior and contains two
conjoined vessels attached in the center by a strap handle. Each
jar measures 5 1/2 inches in height, 4 inches in width (top), and 3
1/2 inches at the base. Wear along the rim suggests that they
may have had lids. No other obvious attributes or markings are
present.

What is it? We have kicked around several ideas, but wanted to
get the benefit of everyone's experience.

Thanks in advance.
