I don't think anyone has yet mentioned that one of the original Star Wars
themes is very close to the trio of the scherzo of Saint-Saens' Piano
Concerto No. 2.

Let's not forget, too, that Leonard Bernstein wasn't above borrowing
from the classics for "West Side Story." The melody of "Somewhere" comes
from the second movement of the Emperor Concerto, and the main theme of
"Quintet" ("The Jets are gonna have their way--toniiiiight") is the second
movement of Bartok's String Quartet No. 2.
