A good alternative to tying pieces of comb into frames is to put a
hive body of foundation on a bottom board, then a queen excluder (to
serve simply as a rack) then an empty deep. Remove comb piece by
piece, set the honey comb aside and put the comb with brood onto the
QE, hunting for the queen. When the queen is found, put her below
the QE. (If you don't find the queen, go through it again the next
day.) After 3 weeks all the brood has hatched so remove the comb and
the top box. Let the bees rob whatever honey is left in those comb
pieces. Dan
