Adrian's suggestions are reminiscent of a discussion along these
lines on HISTARCH? a few years back, and have significant merit.  An
unanticipated benefit of such sales would be a depression of the
market for potted bottles, maybe thereby cutting back some of the
site vandalism currently taking place.  Ah, but then some pothunter
would probably sue since the Universities were using public money to
compete in the marketplace.  (Maybe that old line will add some
gasoline to the fire!)
