If Sarah Caldwell had stayed within a reasonable budget and not had people
sitting around for hours doing nothing and if she had not constantly changed
her mind about things, especially during performances, the Opera Company of
Boston would have been more viable.  She was notorious for overspending and
wasting peoples time.  She paid people to sit around while she changed her
mind.
