You think Jerusalem's about religion? Blake was a visionary and mystic, no
conventional Christian. The Jerusalem in his poem is a metaphor; Jerusalem
is IMHO one of the most subversive poems in the English language. Another
good reason for it to be a national anthem. I suspect that few of the
people who sing it at church services (or at the WI!) really think about
the words.
