Lutoslawski's concerto is somewhat widely played (probably as much as the
Shostakovich), and Ligeti's pops up semi-regularly on new music ensemble
concerts. Elliot Carter's seems to brink on being semi-regular, but I
haven't seen a performance of it scheduled in a couple of years. Two other
recent concertos that I can think of that *should* be played often: Per
Norgard's Concerto in dui tempi and James MacMillan's Berserking. I was
disappointed by both John Adams' and Christopher Rouse's new concertos
('Century Rolls' and 'Seeing', respectively).
