After extracting, and having made an effort to recover as much of the honey
as I can from the barrel of my
extractor, I have been of the habit of letting the bees "clean it up."
However, I have noticed in the past
that too many of them get wetted down with honey on the surface of the
extractor and don't make it home
again. This year I put some coarse wood shavings in there to give them
drier surfaces to land on, and they
seemed to suffer much fewer casualties.
I wonder it anyone else has come with a solution for this?
