I can't help Iain with his papermaking query, but I can enthusiastically
recommend EndNotes as a citation management program. It's available in both
PC and Mac formats; I've used both, and have imported material back and
forth as well. I suspect you will be able to import your citations from the
DOS program with few problems, as long as you can export them to a text
file.  It includes a number of templates that allow for automatic
bibliography formatting -- and creating a new template for journals that
aren't included (like _Historical Archaeology_) isn't too difficult. If you
