I was fortunate enough to hear Arcadi Volodos at U/Conn last night.
I Say fortunate because of the superb quality of this man's playing.
I haven't heard Schubert (G major Sonata) played like this in a long
time...such poetry and complete understanding of what this music is all
about. He wowed the audience with the Liszt Ballade and H. Rhapsody #13
but for my money, what he did with the Schubert was much more difficult.
I'm wondering what others who have heard him thought of his strange, even
a bit bizarre, platform manners...one felt one was watching an automaton!!
He also sits in a very plain chair, looking as if he was preparing to dine.
But the music...aah!
