I can't remember a time I didn't love classical music. I guess my
real start came when I was about 8, listening to Leonard Bernstein's
Young People's Concerts on TV. He also wrote a book with accompanying
mini-discs, which was my constant companion at that age. The discs
included the finale of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No 4, the scherzo of
Beethoven's Seventh, excerpts from Pictures at an Exhibition, and other
great stuff. It's been upward and onward ever since.
