Grime; as in the band's nickname, the Grimeys. The film is a roman a clef
in both the literal & narrative senses of the expression, in that it's a
fictionalisation of the real experiences of behind the Grimethorpe Colliery
Band (which do indeed provide the band numbers in this film), which found
its colliery shut down under it during a Thatcherite irrationalisation.
Marketed as a brass band Full Monty (which it isn't really); the film did
ok, but didn't leave its hat on.
All the best,
