This suggestion is addressed to lovers of late romantic music: Marco Polo
(8.225058) has recently issued a CD containing three orchestral works by
Ildebrando Pizzetti. The "Robert Schumann Philharmonie" is conducted by
Oleg Caetani.
1. Canti della stagione alta - D`Annunzio`s style title for a piano
and orchestra concerto. A work with a neo-impressionist character and
references to popular music. In some passages the orchestration reminds
Rachmaninof. The pianist is Susanna Stefani.
2. Fedra, preludio for D`Annunzio`s tragedy.
3. Sinfonia del Fuoco, cantata for bariton, choir and orchestra, to be
executed during the projection of the movie "Cabiria"(1914). The baryton
is Boris Statsenko, and the choir the Stadtischer Opernchoir.
If anyone is interested in pizzetti`s biograbhy, catalogue of works
and bibliographical references I suggest to visit the web:
