These Brilliant Bach recordings are for sale in Holland for about 2-3
guilders (= $1-2) a piece. The series seems a bit Dutch driven anyway, as
I see quite a lot of Dutch performers. I'm quite sceptical if you could
get them in the states, but if you cannot, and you would really be
interested, I might just arrange something for you.

Here's a few examples:

Brandenburg concertos, suites: Consort of London under Haydon-Clark. Great
performances. originally Collins classic if I'm not mistaken.

harpsichord concertos: Neues Bachisches Collegium. Adequate.

violin concertos: Amsterdam Bach soloists (= chamber group of the
Concertgebouworkest). Not bad at all.

cantatas: Dutch Baroque orchestra conducted by Pieter Jan Luesink and period
instruments. EXCELLENT.

organ pieces: Hans Faegus (original BIS recordings). I'm no expert, so
others may say.

passions, oratoria: The Sixteen under Harry Christophers (original Collins).
Extraordinary!

The CD's are released in packages of 5 to 10. So far, I purchased 46 of them
and haven't spent nearly as much as a normal full price triplet CD. I have
heard they will go as far as 240 CD's. Over here in Holland, they are sold
by the local chemist's, being succesfully shelved between the
preservatives, nylons and after-shave.

If you're no snob, you like great music and are not hooked up on
"well-known performers only", go grab them. I did, and this 20th century
music buff is having a lot of fun with Bach these days.

greetings, Jos
