I've also got about 50 years left and I hope to get tuned in on Mozart.
Unfortunately, it's going in the wrong direction at the moment.

Being a Lisztian with an (never-ending?) obsession, I can say that I don't
recognise myself (fortunately) in the above description of your father.  By
the way, my father loved Mozart and violin concertos.  I avoided violin
concertos (the war horses) for a number years but I now I can listen to
them again with pleasure.
