Comments on two posts in ISEN-ASTC-L Digest - 21 Feb 2013 to 23 Feb 2013
(#2013-44).

Large Hadron Collider: "Particle Fever" is a feature length documentary
following the lives of physicists working on the Large Hadron Collider,
and culminating with the announcement about the Higgs Boson in 2012. The
film is in final editing, with triple Academy Award-winning editor Walter
Murch doing the honors. The New Yorker had a piece on Murch's interest in
fundamental science in the January 28, 2013 issue. Johns Hopkins physicist
David Kaplan is the film's originator and co-producer. When the film
comes out soon it should be a great opportunity for science centers to
program around this topic, including inviting local scientists to
introduce and comment on showings of the film. (Disclaimer: I'm an
advisor on the film).

Older Gentleman: Ever vigilant to keep ISEN-ASTC-L liberal and
politically correct, may I, as a certified "older gentleman" myself,
suggest that Colin Johnson, who was named an ASTC Fellow in 2011, might
more appropriately be identified as a "distinguished gentleman," or a
"senior statesman for science-technology centers," or perhaps "a venerable
leader of our field." You young whippersnappers just wait--if you are
lucky, you will one day be older gentlemen and gentlewomen yourselves!

Cheers,
Alan
