ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Hi Alan,

Thanks to you and everyone who has made the ISEN-ASTC-L listserv such a valuable resource for the field through the years.

You're right; it isn't broken. But as ASTC's Communities of Practice and other programs have been growing and thriving, the need to create space for those involved with these groups to communicate and share ideas and information has grown as well. Since these groups interact in much the same way the listserv does, we have invested in a larger community platform to enable these and other future groups to do so, which is why we're transitioning the listserv to a new platform.

Rest assured, we've made every commitment to ensure the functionality that everyone has enjoyed about this listserv continues. Participants can choose to receive postings in real time or get a daily digest, and you can bookmark a direct link to the General Forum. And, as we mentioned previously, the ISEN archives will still be accessible.

Please let us know if there's any other questions we can answer. We'll continue to keep everyone posted about our progress and other updates.

Best,
LHH

Let me add my voice to Wendy, Lynn, Rachel and others' thanking ASTC for ISEN-ASTC-L, which I have found to be the single most useful tool ASTC provides for our field on a daily basis. It is one of only two electronic resources I read every single day. I've long ago lost count of the number of people to whom I have recommended ISEN-ASTC-L.

Which does lead to this senior citizen's concern, if it ain't broke, why fix it?

I'm sure there are perfectly good reasons. But if this golden goose is not to suffer irreparable harm, I hope ASTC will retain all of the features that have made ISEN-ASTC-L so valuable, compared to the hundreds (thousands) of other similar comment/response services to which few of us are as loyal. These features include the option to receive a daily compilation of all postings via e-mail, or to receive an e-mail of each new posting, as well what I presume will be a new option of bookmarking a website and remembering to go there every day.

Alan
