A colleague asked me to post this to the group, for a project we are working on here at BCM:

We are considering conducting more drop-off programs for our visitors, specifically for kids 6 and older. This is not a new idea for us, but is one that we have moved away from in the past few decades. These would be programs that are intended to last for 30 minutes, an hour or two hours; and we would invite parents to drop their kids off when the program begins, and return to pick them up when the program is completed. Parents will be expected to stay in the Museum - it is assumed that these programs are part of their longer visit, and that those who might be interested in drop-off like this likely have younger children for whom these programs would not be appropriate. So my questions to all of you are: Are you doing something like this? What age children are you working with? What are the issues that arise? And what are the processes that you put in place in order to alleviate these issues/prevent them from happening at all? Your experiences will be most helpful.

thanks all!
