Well this is exciting, first post to the ASTC-L list... here goes...

We have a "Bottle Rocket" exhibit that you might like.  It's very old and
inexpensively built (<$1K in materials), but very popular.  The best part
about it is that it's more open-ended than a lot of the bottle rockets you
may have seen before- the bottle is not tethered.  To my knowledge, we've
never had a safety issue with it.

Let me know if it sounds interesting, and I can send you some pictures, and
I'd be happy to share build details if you'd like to build one of your own.
 We might also be able to build one for you if you don't have the proper
facilities.
