Just this morning, I was pondering the "negative placebo effect." The placebo effect is well documented. The negative placebo less so, but probably just as powerful. My mother had an innate distrust of western medicine. No matter what the Doctor prescribed, she almost always took less of it, or decided to take a different dosage regime. And she almost always got better, which she almost always attributed to her own medical acumen, and the fact that she had taken less of what had been prescribed for her, aka the negative placebo effect.

This article in the NYTimes picks up, another great set ponderable discussion points for all deep thinkers: http://nyti.ms/1eEcQvi

Scientists, writers and other deep thinkers ponder a big question: What scientific idea is ready for retirement? (Hint: Watch yourselves, infinity and the universe.)

Best,
C
