Hi Martin,

Yes, you will still receive an email notification when new messages are posted to the General Forum.

To post a new message, you will need to login to the ASTC Community and post in the General Forum discussion. If you subscribe to the General Forum with the Legacy email option, you will receive real-time, plain text versions of the posts and be able to reply via email, without logging into community.astc.org. If you are subscribed to the Real Time or Daily Digest emails, you can click any ASTC Community link in a General Forum notification email and be automatically logged into the site, so with one click on the Reply to Discussion or Post Message link, you will be ready to post your message.

Here are descriptions of the email subscription options:
- Real time sends an email every time a new message is posted. To respond, you must click the "Respond to Discussion" link in the email.
- Daily digest sends one email to you each day, consolidating all of the posts from the previous day. To respond, you must click the "Respond to Discussion" link in the email.
- Legacy sends real-time, plain text versions of the posts. This option also allows you to reply via email, without logging into community.astc.org, but it does NOT allow you to include attachments with your post.
- No Email allows you to be part of the group without having emails sent to you. You can still post and read others' messages by logging into the community site.

To change your subscription setting, please visit http://community.astc.org/communities1/mysubscriptions (you will need to be logged into the ASTC Community to change these settings).

Thanks!
Mary

At community.astc.org, you can participate in discussions, share resources, and connect with museum professionals from around the world. mary

Will postings to the community come through as an email, as the list did, and will we be able to reply and post new discussions without have to go through the web site? This is not clear, to me at least.

Thanks for your patience in explaining this if you already have.

Martin
