ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

If we come up with a new name then it should reflect a new model, not one
predicated on a 40 year concept of what a museum or science center should
be. This includes the change of perception and role from visitors
to participants. It should also reflect the idea that the science center
for the 21st century is not only a destination in the city but also is
dynamically connected to a learning city. Richard Evans from Emcarts.org
talked about these new models as a trustee session at the recent 2013 ACM
conference, whose theme was re-imagining children's museums. A theme I am
hearing a lot about.
